Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times late to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
